SRT Pulls Out of 2014 24 Hours of Le Mans

It can be confirmed that SRT Motorsports will not participate in this year’s 24 Hours of Le Mans. The team’s decision to pull out of the race comes ahead of next month’s deadline for entry deposits.

While discussing the news, President and CEO of SRT Ralph Gilles said, “We regretfully and respectfully decline to participate in this year’s 24 Hours of Le Mans.

“We are honored to once again be invited by the ACO to compete in this historic event, and they were the first to be informed of our decision. We will remain focused on our North American racing program in 2014.”

Just recently it was announced that Chrysler has stopped production of the Viper for the next two months following dwindling sales. It is likely that this has resulted in a smaller motorsport budget.

The two SRT Viper GTS-Rs pinned to compete in this Le Mans would have been piloted by Dominik Franbacher, Marc Goossens, Rob Bell, Jonathon Bomarito, Kuno Wittmer and Jeroen Bleekemolen.
