Mercedes-Benz S 63 AMG Coupe at Beijing Motor Show 2014

Having debuted last week at the New York Auto Show 2014, the Mercedes-Benz S 63 AMG Coupe also makes a debut at the Beijing Motor Show 2014. The Mercedes-Benz S 63 AMG Coupe replaces the Mercedes-Benz CL 63 AMG in the product range and will, for now be the top of the range Mercedes-Benz Coupe. We took a closer look at the car on the show floor!

The Mercedes-Benz S 63 AMG Coupe is powered by a 5.5-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine delivering 577 hp at 5,500 rpm and 664 lb-ft of torque from as low as 2,240 rpm. It can be ordered in rear or all wheel drive with a seven-speed Speedshift automatic transmission. Despite its relatively heavy weight of 1,995 kg, Mercedes-Benz claims that the S 63 AMG 4MATIC Coupe can hit 100 km/h from a standstill in a mere 3.9 seconds. The rear wheel drive version takes 4.3 seconds.

The Mercedes-Benz S 63 AMG gets a similar air suspension setup to the standard S-Class Coupe albeit it has been stiffened for this much more performance oriented model. Just like the standard S-Class Coupe, the S 63 AMG Coupe comes standard with the firm’s stunning Magic Body Control system, a feature sadly missing from the S 63 AMG Sedan.
