McLaren 12C MSO Concept Car at McLaren Newport Beach

McLaren’s mysterious in-house restorations and customization arm, McLaren Special Operations, fulfills unique requests for the company’s customers. Last year they debuted the 12C MSO Concept Car, an enhanced and worked over 12C and a car we had a personal photoshoot with during our recent visit to MSO headquarters in Woking. The car’s last public appearance was in Monaco, but it’s recently turned up at McLaren Newport Beach in California.

The 12 MSO concept has a number of bespoke features including a carbon-fiber front bumper, rear airbrake, engine cover and fender vents. There is also a fully functional roof scoop which feeds air into the engine bay and titanium wheel bolts holding on special MSO wheels. An ‘Alaskan Diamond White’ exterior complete with a carbon fiber stripe running up the bonnet pulls together the exterior look.

Inside, the carbon fiber theme continues with carbon shift paddles, door sills and a carbon instrument cluster. The steering wheel is trimmed in white, as are the seat shells and various other trim pieces throughout the cabin.
