Jaguar F-Type Reportedly Receiving Manual Transmission Option

Available with a selection of different engines as well as a coupe or a convertible, the Jaguar F-Type is the perfect rival to the Porsche 911 range. However, there are two areas where it can’t quite match the 911. First off, all variations of the F-Type come with Jaguar’s 8-speed ZF automatic transmission and rear wheel drive. By comparison, select 911 models are available with a traditional stick shift and all-wheel drive.

However, according to the latest word, the Jaguar F-Type will receive both a manual transmission and all-wheel drive in the near future. While Jaguar has yet to confirm these reports, it definitely seems like a good move and will perfectly complement upcoming F-Types likely to produce well over 600 hp.

Interestingly, it is worth pointing out that just last month, Jaguar’s technical specialist for performance and driveability attributes Tim Clark revealed that the British marque has no plans to produce all-wheel drive sports cars. He said, “All-wheel-drive doesn’t necessarily make a sports car experience, that’s the thing. There’s a lot of stuff you would need to do to actually make the car still have the same experience, and there aren’t many four-wheel-drive cars out there that actually do.”

Whatever the case may be, the future for the Jaguar F-Type is looking very exciting and we can’t wait for it to unfold!
