2015 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat

The high-performance 2015 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat was officially released today. Packing a 600 hp punch, Dodge state that the V8 muscle car is geared towards the driving enthusiast.

The 2015 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat features an all-new supercharged 6.2-liter HEMI V8 engine, the most powerful that Chrysler Group has ever produced. With “over 600 hp”, the power figures aren’t finalised yet. The mechanical updates include a crankshaft made out of forged steel, as well as forged alloy pistons and connecting rods and heat-treated aluminum-alloy cylinder heads.

Dodge also announced that it will get a TorqueFlite eight-speed automatic transmission and new Pirelli tire technology with Y-Plus rated four-season tires. The 2015 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat gets the largest front-brake package ever offered on a Chrysler Group vehicle; 390-mm (15.4-inch) Brembo two-piece rotors with six-piston calipers at the front.

The 2015 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat gets two key fobs, one red, the other black. The black key fob restricts the power available, whereas the red key fob unlocks the full performance potential. The Hellcat rides on SRT-exclusive “Slingshot” split-seven spoke 20 x 9.5-inch, lightweight forged-aluminum wheels with a matte black finish.

Design changes include a new front fascia and all-new vertical-split grille. It gets a larger, power-bulge aluminum hood with a dedicated “cold-air” intake much like the original Viper coupe.

The hood comes standard in body color and is available in a Satin Black finish. The quad projector headlamps are new too as is the larger front splitter and supercharger fender badges. The rear gets a split tail-lamp design and new rear fascia. The diffuser is a new design, as is the taller rear spoiler.

The 2015 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat gets 11 exterior colours including: B5 Blue Pearl Coat, Billet Silver Metallic Clear Coat, Bright White Clear Coat, Granite Crystal Metallic Pearl Coat, Ivory White Tri-Coat Pearl, Jazz Blue Pearl Coat, Phantom Black Tri-Coat Pearl, Pitch Black Clear Coat, Redline Tri-Coat Pearl, Sublime Metallic Pearl Coat and TorRed Clear Coat.

The interior is also all-new using better materials and better technology than ever before. The 2015 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat will be built at the Brampton, Ontario Assembly plant. Production is scheduled to begin in the third quarter of 2014.
