2017 Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG Spied Testing

The first spyshots showcasing what is believed to be the 2017 Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG have emerged online with a recent test mule spied at the Nurburgring.

While on first appearances this may just look like the upcoming 2015 Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG, the fact that it features a wider track and an extended wheelbase indicates that it is in fact a prototype for the C-Class’s bigger brother, the E-Class. Add to that a host of aggressive visual features including beefed up bumpers, large brake discs, new alloy wheels and AMG quad-exhaust tips and all indications point towards this being the next-generation E63 AMG.

The next-generation 2017 Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG will ditch the 5.5-litre biturbo V8 of the current car and utilise the firm’s new 4.0-litre biturbo V8 set to debut on the upcoming Mercedes-AMG GT sports car. In the AMG GT, it will be tuned to deliver at least 503 hp and when fitted into the next-gen C 63 AMG should deliver in the region of 450-480 hp. By comparison, it is likely that the 2017 Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG will receive upwards of 550 hp.

Alongside the implementation of a new engine, the 2017 E63 AMG will utilise the new MRA architecture which should ensure the new car weighs significantly less than the current model.
