The upcoming 2015 Mercedes-Benz GLK SUV has been spied testing under heavy camouflage not too long after a reported CLK63 AMG variant was also spied during early development.

It is believed that this particular GLK prototype is wearing production spec headlights and taillights and could also be featuring its production-spec skin under the camouflage. Out back, the taillights seem to be the most dramatic visual change from the existing GLK-Class with them slimmer and more reflective of those from the C-Class Estate.

We expect a similar selection of GLK-Class variants to be offered for the new model as they are the existing car. The most pivotal change will be the inclusion of a GLK63 AMG model into the range.

Under the hood, the 2016 Mercedes-Benz GLK63 AMG will utilise the firm’s new 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 engine set to underpin the Mercedes-AMG GT and next-generation C63 AMG. Dubbed the M178, this engine will replace the current twin-turbocharged 5.5-litre V8 used by much of the AMG range.
