At the Frankfurt Motor Show last year, the Jaguar C-X17 Sports Crossover Concept was introduced. Not only did the car preview a new premium SUV from the manufacturer to rival the BMW X5, it also debuted the company’s new aluminium platform now being used for the first time in the 3-Series rivalling XE sedan.

According to Jaguar Land Rover North America marketing vice president Kim McCullough however, the company is also looking at a smaller crossover to reach the market in the future.

While speaking with AutoGuide, McCullough said, “[A] smaller crossover is an opportunity for the biggest growth. That’s the area that’s really exploding. Between that and the compact sedan segment, those are two big areas of white space for [Jaguar] that will provide the volume that’s so important as we look ahead.”

As for C-X17 Sports Crossover Concept, its design combines Jaguars current design language on a larger platform. What this means is that the Jaguar C-X17 Sports Crossover Concept features the traditional Jaguar front grille now completed with a bright red Jaguar badge as well as headlights similar to those featured on the Jaguar XJ.

From the rear, the car features taillights similar to the stunning Jaguar F-Type sports car albeit with much sharper and prominent angles. In addition to previewing the styling of the eventual productions-spec Jaguar SUV, the design also provides a more general look at the new range of smaller Jaguars.
