A new prototype of the production-spec Mercedes-Benz GLE Coupe has been spied testing and this particularly example has ditched a considerably amount of its camouflage. As a matter of fact, only the front and rear ends are hiding from view.

What is immediately noticeable about this GLE Coupe test mule is just how similar it looks to the original Mercedes-Benz Concept Coupe SUV introduced earlier this year. One of the most obvious similarities are the two obvious creases running down the doors not only similar to the Concept Coupe SUV but also other Mercedes models like the C-Class and CLA. One obvious difference however, is the significantly smaller moon-roof.

Inevitably, both the front and rear fascias of the Mercedes-Benz GLE Coupe will differ from the Concept Coupe SUV. Due to the camouflage on this prototype however, it is hard to determine just how they will look. With that being said, the headlights and taillights will be inevitably tweaked for production with the air intakes, rear diffuser and tailpipe design likely to be modified.

The Mercedes-Benz GLE Coupe will directly rival the recently facelifted BMW X6 and is expected to be available with a host of different engines. For starters, both petrol and diesel V6 engines are expected alongside a very economical hybrid. At the top of the range, we can expect to see a V8 powered GLE 63 AMG Coupe and an GLE 65 AMG Coupe powered by a V12 engine!
