Cadillac CTS-V 640hp

Just a few days ago, it was confirmed that the 2016 Cadillac CTS-V will debut at the Detroit Motor Show 2015 early next month. Now reports have emerged suggesting that the CTS-V will deliver a brutal 640 hp from its Corvette Z06 sourced 6.2-litre supercharged V8.

The information comes courtesy of well-known spy photographer Chris Doane who revealed the power figure on his Facebook page. While 640 hp may seem absolutely absurd for a high-performance sedan, it is hardly surprising considering this engine pumps out 650 hp and 650 lb-ft of torque when fitted to the Corvette Z06.

If the power figure is correct, then it will mean the Cadillac CTS-V will be significantly more powerful than its key rivals like the BMW M5 and Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG which both deliver less than 600 hp. The latest information also quells suggestions that the CTS-V could feature a new twin-turbocharged 4.5-litre V8 derived from last year’s Cadillac Elmiraj concept.
