Mercedes-Benz GLE63 AMG Coupe

Prior to the Detroit Motor Show 2015 kicking off in less than a week, a teaser video of the upcoming Mercedes-Benz GLE63 AMG Coupe has been released. Interestingly, it is more of a trailer for the potent BMW X6 M rival than a teaser as it shows the performance-oriented GLE Coupe completely undisguised and in full view.

Beneath the skin, the Mercedes-Benz GLE63 AMG Coupe apparently won’t be powered by the 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 which recently debuted on the new AMG GT and C63 models. Instead, reports suggest that the firm’s outgoing 5.5-litre naturally-aspirated V8 engine will be maintained and if that is the case, expect power to rise to the 550 hp mark to adequately compete with the 567 hp BMW X6 M.

From a visual standpoint, the new GLE63 AMG Coupe will be easy to distinguish from other GLE Coupe models thanks to the AMG bodykit. That kit will incorporate aggressive front and rear fascias, enlarged air intakes, a revised front grille as well as new sports wheels.

Further changes will include the adoption of a typical AMG, quad-tailpipe system, beefed up brakes as well as a plethora of suspension modifications.
