Ferrari FXX Evoluzione

A 2005 Ferrari FXX Evoluzione has sold for $1,622,500 at the RM Auctions sales event in Arizona late last week.

This particular Ferrari FXX Evoluzione was the very first example created and has been owned by just one person and incredibly, has taken part in just three Corse Clienti events. In total, just 38 Ferrari FXXs were ever produced and this example was purchased as soon as the FXX Programme was announced at the Bologna Motor Show in late 2005.

It then ran at the inaugural FXX event at Homestead-Miami Speedway in April 2006, the same venue in March 2007 and then at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca in August 2008. All told, the car has logged just three or four hours of track time in its near 10-year life.

Prior to attending the Corse Clienti event in August 2008, the car in question was converted to Evoluzione specification which includes different gear ratios, fastest gear changes, upgraded aerodynamics, better brakes, a more complex traction control system and a rear-facing camera.

Beneath the skin, the Ferrari FXX Evoluzione’s 6.2-litre V8 engine delivers 860 hp and can send the track-day toy to a theoretical top speed nudging 400 km/h.
