Top Gear

On the back of Top Gear Season 22 launching with Episode 1, it has emerged that the show’s three presenters, Jeremy Clarkson, James May and Richard Hammond are edging ever closer to renewing their contracts with the BBC for three additional years.

The current contracts held by Top Gear’s presenters end in April and the confirmation that the trio will soon sign new multi-year deals comes despite some pundits calling for the show to be cancelled after numerous controversies.

According to a source close to the team however, “All indications are that the contract with BBC Worldwide will be renewed shortly and is likely to run for three years.”

On the back of calls for the show to be axed recently, BBC director-general Lord Hall said, “It’s a programme loads of people love and it’s important the BBC doesn’t have just one voice.”
