Range Rover Evoque Convertible Spy Shots

We were under the impression that the Range Rover Evoque Convertible was dead on arrival. Yet these spy shots show that Jaguar Land Rover is still considering it as an extension to the Range Rover Evoque range. Some are even touting it to join the award-winning SUV range later this year.

The timing of this mule is quite significant considering the original concept was unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show 2012. We are less than a month away from the Geneva Motor Show 2015, perhaps the Range Rover Evoque Convertible will be Land Rover’s surprise card? Others suspect it will be slightly later in the year, possibly the Goodwood Festival of Speed at the end of June.

The latest spyshots show that the Evoque has upgraded its roof to an electric fabric roof. The SUV’s styling remains largely unchanged from the Geneva show car. We are expecting any production car to retain the Range Rover’s reputation for supreme performance both on and off road.

The challenges are significant for Land Rover’s development team. The Range Rover Evoque Convertible will feature a clever Roll Over Protection System (ROPS) that won’t pop in extreme off-road situations. The Convertible’s reveal is also likely to coincide with a minor refresh for the rest of the range.

Expect to see the current 2.2-litre diesel replaced by the new 2.0 Ingenium diesel which makes its debut in the Discovery Sport and Jaguar XE models.
