Lamborghini has confirmed that it is developing at least two rear-wheel drive variants of the Lamborghini Huracan.

The first will act as the spiritual successor to the Lamborghini Gallardo Superleggera and aim to rival the Ferrari 488 GTB and McLaren 675LT. Like those two, it will be rear wheel drive, feature more than the 600 hp of the ‘standard’ Huracan while also shedding some weight. Unlike the 488 GTB and 675LT however, the hardcore Huracan will remain naturally-aspirated.

Beyond developing a rival to these two, an entry-level variant of the Huracan set to be dubbed the LP610-2 is also on the cards. It will be similar to the base Gallardo LP550-2 that was offered to some markets around the world.

Before either of these cars arrive however, the Lamborghini Huracan Spyder is pinned to be introduced. As a result, we’re unlikely to hear about the rear-wheel drive Huracan models before 2016.
