At the end of May, the 2015 Red Bull Global Rallycross season will start but before that happens, the Vermont SportsCar built Subaru WRX STI has been unveiled and officially named the VT15x.

Powering the Subaru WRX STI Rallycross VT15x is a turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder boxer engine delivering a total of 580 hp. In typical WRX fashion, all of that power is sent through the rear wheels and for the Rallycross car, a six-speed sequential transmission from Sadev is also featured. What all of this means is that the VT15x can hit 96 km/h (60 mph) from a standstill in just 2 seconds flat on many different surfaces.

Elsewhere, a number of chassis, braking and suspension improvements have been employed for the Subaru WRX STI Rallycross VT15x to ensure it is even more capable than the VR14x racer which it replaces.

Piloting the car throughout the 2015 Red Bull Global Rallycross season will be Bucky Lasek and Sverre Iaschshen. Travis Pastrana will also drive the car during the X Games event and a selection of other rounds on the calendar.
