Audi Prologue Allroad

The Chinese International Auto Show alternates each year between Shanghai and Beijing; much like its European equivalent does with Paris and Frankfurt. This year, the automotive industry has travelling to the world’s largest city for the Shanghai Auto Show 2015!

For almost all manufacturers, the Chinese market is a top priority. Volkswagen for example enjoyed a share of 20.8 percent of the passenger car market and sales of 3.27 million vehicles in 2013 thanks to successful partnerships with Chinese counterparts. The country recorded over 23 million new registrations in 2014; that number is set to increase to over 30 million before 2020.

The possibilities are huge in China which is why we are covering some fairly large releases at the Shanghai Auto Show 2015. Our Shanghai Auto Show 2015 Preview aims to put you in the picture, hopefully by the end of this article you will know what to expect from our coverage over the coming days!

We first saw (and drove) the Audi Prologue Concept at the Los Angeles Motor Show last year. Since then, it morphed into an estate car for the Geneva Motor Show 2015 and now it is expected to debut as a Quattro equipped, rugged estate car. It is expected to feature the same 117 mpg, 724 bhp petrol-electric hybrid as the Geneva show car.

Mercedes-Benz GLC Coupe Concept Car

The biggest news at the Shanghai Auto Show 2015 for Mercedes-Benz is the debut of a new Concept Car. Essentially, this concept is a preview for the upcoming Mercedes-Benz GLK replacement. Mercedes-Benz have already revealed teasers of this near-production-standard study. When the new GLK does hit the market, it will be available in both left and right hand drive.

McLaren

McLaren 570S New York Auto Show

McLaren have chosen the Shanghai Auto Show 2015 to present the brand new, entry level McLaren 540C. Little is known about McLaren’s cheapest Sport Series model, yet it is expected to feature much the same design as the recently unveiled McLaren 570S and share mechanical components with that model. The official release is Monday so stay tuned for all the latest info.

Volkswagen Scirocco GTS

VW Scirocco GTS

The Volkswagen Scirocco gains a GTS version for the first time. Despite its 217 bhp turbocharged 2.0-litre petrol engine, the real headline is inside. Volkswagen are debuting a new infotainment system which will filter down to the rest of the range from the end of May.

Peugeot 308 R HYbrid

The Peugeot 308 R HYbrid adds some traditional French performance insanity into the mix. The Peugeot 308 R HYbrid is billed as a hyper-hatch. It gets a 1.6 litre turbocharged petrol engine with 266bhp and two 85kW/113bhp electric engines which together produce 492bhp petrol-electric.
