The upcoming 2016 Mercedes-AMG C63 Coupe has been spied in the midst of testing for the very first time. This particular prototype was snapped on the outskirts of the Nurburgring.

From the spy shots, there’s no mistaking the prototype in question for anything other than an AMG branded model. The front fascia for example incorporates a bold and aggressive new bumper as well as enlarged air intakes. Elsewhere, a set of wide sports wheels have been installed while the rear incorporates the same quad exhaust pipe design as the Mercedes-AMG C63 sedan.

Unsurprisingly, the Mercedes-AMG C63 Coupe will be offered with the same twin-turbocharged 4.0-litre V8 engine as the sedan. In base C63 specification, that engine pumps out a total of 469 hp and 479 lb-ft of torque while in C63 S specification, horsepower rises to 503 hp and torque has bumped up to 516 lb-ft. As a result, the range-topping Mercedes-AMG C63 S Coupe will accelerate to 100 km/h in less than four seconds as well as an electronically-limited 289 km/h top speed.

It remains to be seen when the Mercedes-AMG C63 Coupe models will be revealed but it seems likely it’ll debut later this year or early next year.
