So far, Jaguar Land Rover’s Special Vehicle Operations (SVO) division has revealed the potent performance-oriented Range Rover Sport SVR and Jaguar F-Type Project 7 and luxurious SVAutobiography. Now it has emerged that SVO will extend its operations into creating extreme off-roaders set to be adorned with the ‘SVX’ badge.

While recently speaking with Car and Driver, Special Vehicle Operations boss John Edwards revealed that the SVX models will be exclusive to Land Rover with a focus on improving the off-roading capabilities of the already adept models produced by the British automaker. Additionally, the SVX models are tipped to receive additional performance improvements alongside the off-road upgrades.

As a matter of fact, when quizzed about whether the Land Rover SVX models could be similar to the Bowler Wildcat or Mercedes-Benz G63 AMG 6×6, Edwards said “It could be either of those things, it could be both. This is the third side of the product triangle, and one that we think has got huge potential.”

It remains to be seen what will be the first Land Rover to receive the SVX treatment but it could be the next-generation Land Rover Defender. Whatever the case may be, Edwards said it will be revealed “relatively soon” on the back of the Range Rover Sport SVR and SVAutobiography already debuting from SVO.
