RM Sotheby's Monterey 6

At RM Sotheby’s upcoming Monterey auction from August 14-15, a number of classic sports cars and supercars are set to go under the hammer. Two of the absolute highlights are a Maserati Ghibli Spyder as well as a U.S.-spec Ferrari 365 GTB/4 Daytona Berlinetta.

As for the 1968 Maserati Ghibli 4.7 Spyder Prototype, it is chassis number AM115/S 1001 and was actually the first ever Ghibli Spyder produced as well as the very first shown to the public. It is finished in a bright shade of Giallo (yellow) and also features silver wheels.

The car was sold to its first private owner in 1969 after being tested and developed by the Italian manufacturer. It was then sold in 1975 and imported into the United States and then in 1986 with 41,100 miles on the clock, it went into storage where it remained for almost 30 years. It is predicted to sell for between $1.2 million and $1.8 million.
