BMW 640i Coupe M Performance Edition front

The covers have just been taken off a new BMW model specifically for the Japanese market. Dubbed the 2016 BMW 640i Coupe M Performance Edition, just 10 examples of the special 6-Series variant will be produced priced at 10.9 million Yen ($88,000 USD) each.

Powering the 640i Coupe M Performance Edition is the same 3.0-litre turbocharged straight six engine as the standard 640i. Consequently, it produces the same 316 hp and is coupled with an 8-speed dual-clutch transmission. Because the powertrain is the same, the M Performance Edition is only differentiated from the standard model due to a range of visual modifications.

For starters, it incorporates the M Sport package which includes more aggressive front and rear bumpers. Additionally, custom side skirts have been installed as have dark chrome finished exhaust pipes. Elsewhere, are M Performance black kidney grille, carbon fibre wing mirrors and 20-inch Liquid Black wheels with 245/35 tyres at the front and 275/30 shoes at the rear.

Inside, the BMW 640i Coupe M Performance Edition includes a three-spoke steering wheel as well as a dark headliner, sport seats and bespoke door sill plates. Elsewhere, M Performance carbon fibre accents are found throughout as is Dakota leather and Gray Poplar wooden elements.
