Koenigsegg has just set a new production car lap record in the exceptionally potent One:1 megacar at the famous Spa-Francorchamps circuit in the forests of Belgium.

The Swedish car managed to lap the circuit in 2:32.14 putting it almost six seconds ahead of the fastest recorded lap of the McLaren P1 at the track. It is also about eight seconds quicker than the Porsche 918 Spyder and comes just a month after the Koenigsegg One:1 set a 2:33.26 time at Spa, itself a record time.

Making the lap time all the more impressive is that it was set during a track day meaning Koenigsegg test driver Robert Serwanski had to deal with traffic throughout the circuit.

Amazingly, the Swedish marque wasn’t entirely satisfied with the 2:32.14 and attempted to break it the following day with an empty track. However, tighter decibel restrictions were in place during the day meaning the One:1 was black flagged for being too loud. The company is promising however that it will return on a day with less stringent decibel limits in an attempt to fully explore the One:1’s performance potential at the circuit.

Beneath the skin, the Koenigsegg One:1’s twin-turbocharged V8 delivers 1341 hp and 1371 Nm of torque. When combined with an overall weight of just 1341 kg, the One:1 features a perfect 1 hp to 1 kg power to weight ratio. The only other production car to achieve such a figure is the Hennessey Venom GT.
