A number of new images were released of the Lamborghini Murcielago SV, the lightweight, rear-wheel drive version of the Lamborghini Murcielago LP640. We already wrote about the Lamborghini Murcielago SV 6 months ago. Although no new information is given, it looks like the 680 bhp Murcielago SV is nearing it’s final stages of development, which makes it likely that the official release of the Murcielago SV will be at the Paris Motor Show later this year.
Wiesmann to introduce Wiesmann MF4 and MF5 Roadster at Geneva Auto Salon 2009
Thursday, April 3rd, 2008
Martin and Friedhelm Wiesmann told us some more exciting news during our tour of their new production facility today. They will show their new Wiesmann MF4 and MF5 roadsters at the 2009 Geneva Auto Salon.
The Wiesmann MF4 Roadster will run on the same 4.8 liter V8 from BMW that can also be found in the MF4 GT, good for 367 hp and a topspeed of 290 km/h. It’s big brother, the Wiesmann MF5 Roadster, will run on the famous BMW 5.0 liter V10 engine that made it’s name already in the M5, M6 and Wiesmann GT MF5. This is the ultimate engine for the top end roadster in the Wiesmann range. The 507 hp strong V10 is capable of pushing the Wiesmann GT from zero to 100 in 3,9 seconds and keeps going until reaching the topspeed of 310 km/h.
The introduction of the MF4 and MF5 Roadster doesn’t mean the production of the popular MF3 Roadster will be stopped. According to Martin Wiesmann the MF3 will stay in production next to the new roadsters. Wiesmann also announced the introduction of a driverairbag at the GT models and a number of modifications to the MF3.
Bad news for all the Wiesmann fans in the United States: due to the high costs involved with getting the Wiesmann’s tested, modified and accepted for the American roads and the high exchange rate, an introduction in the United States is not likely to happen on the short term. But Wiesmann will keep exploring the options for a possible introduction of one or more of their models on the US market that could boost their production to as much as 500 cars a year.
Geneva Auto Show 2008 Highlights
Friday, March 21st, 2008
With finally all our photos from the Geneva Auto Salon added to our gallery, it’s time to wrap up our coverage with some highlights and a couple remarkable finds. From the major manufacturers it was the Volkswagen Group that suprised us the most. Their brands Audi and Lamborghini had, also according to our readers, the highlights of the show at their stands. Of course the Lamborghini LP560-4 was not to be missed and next door Audi showed an amazing supercar concept and two Q7’s with a V12 TDI engine. The Audi R8 V12 TDI Le Mans concept is definately our favorite of the show. Below you can find photos of a number of highlights and remarkable concepts.
Rolls-Royce Phantom Coupé sold out!
Sunday, March 9th, 2008
It seems like Rolls Royce is the popular über-luxery car at the moment. All 200 available pieces of the coupé are sold. If you bought one, you can expect it on your driveway by spring 2009. In Geneva Rolls Royce chairman Ian Robertson revealed a nice detail:
“Two out of three sales of the Phantom CoupĂ© are bought by people who don’t currently own a Rolls. It means we’re beginning to appeal to a broader audience”.

Koenigsegg CCXR Edition
Thursday, March 6th, 2008
It’s going well with Koenigsegg, the Swedish car builder is aiming for a sales record of 50 cars this year and at the Geneva Auto Show they presented one of our favorite cars of the show: the Koenigsegg CCXR Edition. With it’s full carbon fibre body and 4.8 litre engine which can be driven on environmentally friendly ethanol fuels as well as regular petrol, it’s one of the most extreme supercars on the market today. When run on ethanol E85 fuel the 4.8 litre engine produces 1018 bhp. With regular fuel it still produces a very impressive 888 hp.
The CCXR Edition also includes new forged and polished aluminium Edition wheels which are extremely light and incorporate optimum brake cooling. Most eye-catching part is the new carbon wing which, together with lower ride height, modified shock absorbers, modified springs and anti roll bars, adds to improved downforce.
Ferrari 599 Stallone by Mansory
Thursday, March 6th, 2008
Mansory showed a very eye-catching car with the Renovatio SLR. Next to that one there was also a new package for the Ferrari 599 GTB. The designers from Mansory call it a ‘Stallone’ edition. The engine has been to the fitness and runns now on 720 inpatient horses instead of the standard 620. This was possible by adding a supercharger and some electronics. Next to the extra 100 bhp there also 92 Nm more torque which enables the lucky owners to reach 62 mph (100 kmh) in only 3,7 seconds and doing a topspeed of 212 mph (340 kmh).
