At the IAA 2007 a stop at the Maybach stand in the Mercedes pavillion shouldn’t be missed. Top of Maybach’s range is the Maybach 62S; the biggest and most expensive limousine money can buy. In the backseat you will find yourself surrounded by all the luxury you can wish for; a big range of communication and entertainment features makes your journey as pleasant and worthwhile as possible.
The ‘S’ has 612 bhp, 62 bhp more then the normal Maybach 62, thanks to the AMG tuned 6 liter V12 under the hood. This results in a 0,2 faster sprint from zero to 60 mph, 5,2 seconds compared to the 5,4 seconds in the normal Maybach 62. The top speed is electronically limited to 250 km/h due to the increased load on the tyres. Compared to his smaller and lighter brother, the Maybach 57S, the latter is our favorite; the 62S makes driving the huge limousine faster and more fun but it’s still more a car to be driven in rather then to drive in yourself. The Maybach 57S maybe lacks some of the huge ‘WOW!’ factor that the huge Maybach 62 triggers with bystanders but for those of you that love driving the Maybach 57S should be your Maybach of choice.
With rumours about a baby-Bugatti and the confirmed Veyron spider we hoped to get some answers this IAA 2007. Suprisingly we didn’t get any news regarding both but Volkswagen presented a new uber-version of the Bugatti Veyron; the Bugatti Veyron Pur Sang. Freely translated as ‘the ultimate’ version. Aluminium and Carbon form the main materials used for this Bugatti Veyron Pur Sang, making the car not only more expensive and exclusive but also 100 kg lighter then the ‘normal’ Bugatti Veyron. Only five Pur Sang’s will be build so if you are looking for the ultimate collectors item make sure to order yours asap!

As supercar reporters Citroên is not a brand we immediatly rush towards when we attend a carshow but this time we stumbled upon a very nice concept car while looking for the toilets. It’s their new C5 Airscape concept car. We immediatly saw ourselfs driving the C5 Airscape (Citroên’s word for convertible or cabriolet) from our hollywood-style villa in the hills of St Tropez to Club 55 for lunch, all with the roof down and the sun shining down on us…
For now the C5 Airscape is still a concept car but with the good responses we heard about it while walking around at the Citroên stand it’s more then likely the C5 Airscape will make it to the dealers, let’s just hope Citroên decides to keep the design features and great interior in the final build. For those of you who are not convinced yet check out these great photos of the Citroên C5 Airscape!
After a very long first day at the IAA 2007 we can present you a couple of our highlights and must see supercars if you plan to visit the Frankfurt Motorshow in the next two weeks.
Starting with the first manufacturer we visited this morning: Mercedes. The Mercedes exhibition area is huge and it has a few tricks up it’s sleeves, out there are a couple hidden treasures you don’t want to miss!
The first one is the new McLaren-Mercedes SLR Roadster, this convertible version of the McLaren SLR has a topspeed of 322 km/h produced by the same 626 bhp engine used in the non-topless SLR.
Not far from the SLR Roadster we found the Mercedes-Benz CLK 63 AMG Black Series. This AMG model based on the F1 Safety Car was presented on the New York International Auto Show in April of this year. The AMG powered V8 produces 507 bhp, enough for a 13,8 second sprint from zero to 200 km/h. The topspeed is limited to 300 km/h.
Another instant classic not to be missed is the new Ferrari 430 Scuderia. Ferrari 430 Scuderia. A faster, lighter and racier version of the Ferrari F430.
Tomorrow we will pay BMW a visit and look for exotic new concept cars in unexpected areas of the IAA 2007! For the latest photos visit the IAA 2007 gallery or tune in to our IAA 2007 Forum to discuss your favorite car of this years Frankfurt Auto Show!

As announced Audi revealed their new Audi RS6 during their overcrowded pressconference at the IAA 2007 about an hour ago. We had been looking forward to this moment to see the new Audi RS6 in real life. The 5 litre V10 with two turbo chargers delivers 580 bhp good for a top speed of just over 300 km/h. Audi did all it could to improve the aerodynamics of the avant, a good example of that is the rear diffuser. The new RS6 will only be available as an Avant for now. The first cars will be delivered in April 2008 and in Germany the car will have a 101.750 euro price tag.
Lamborghini CEO Stefan Winkelmann just unvealed the highly anticipated Lamborghini supercar. The name of the new Lamborghini flagship is Reventón; named after a famous fighting bull.
Only 20 Reventón’s will be build by Lamborghini and only made available to dear friends and trusted Lamborghini collectors for the friendly price of 1.000.000 euro a piece. The LP640 formed the base for this 650 bhp strong 6.5 liter limited edition Lamborghini Reventón.
More photos of the presentation of the Lamborghini Reventón can be found in our Lamborghini IAA 2007 gallery!
At Mercedes the environment was the focus of their show and pressconference. Mercedes presented a range of new clean Bluetec (clean diesels) and hybrid models. Among those a C300 T-model and a S300 Bluetec Hybrid. Eye catcher of the show was the new Mercedes F700 concept, a very environmental limousine.
The Porsche pressconference at the IAA 2007 just finished and to little suprise also Porsche caught the environmental virus. According to a Porsche spokes person a visit of environmental activists Greenpeace made Porsche decide to develop cleaner engines. 2 years after Greenpeace visited Porsche they reveal a hybrid version of the Porsche Cayenne. This clean hybrid engine is also said to make it’s appearance in the Porsche coupe: the Panamera.
Of course we were waiting for the new Porsche GT2. Little was said about the new GT2 during the pressconference but Porsche another Porsche spokesperson confirmed the following to us:
Topspeed: 329 km/h Power: 530 bhp Price: 189.500 euro (in Germany)
