Small Maserati Coupé in the pipeline

Maserati is working on a small Maserati Coupé to boost annual sales even further after the success of the Maserati Gran Turismo. According to sources within the company the new sports coupé is likely to be based on a modified GT platform and like a previous Maserati Coupé prototype from 2005 it will be a two-seater only.
It’s likely that after the introduction of the smaller Maserati CoupĂ© a spider version will follow soon after. Autocar reports that the engines will include both Maserati’s 4.2 and 4.7-litre V8s and possibly a more efficient V6 engine. But with the current emission targets we wouldn’t be suprised if the smaller Maserati CoupĂ© comes equipped with a V6 only.
The first new car to leave the factory however is the Gran Turismo Spider which is expected to be shown at the 2009 Geneva Auto Salon.
