BTCC 2013 Season Preview

BTCC is a British based championship which combines professional racing teams and privately funded amateur drivers. This year will be the 56th season with various supporting series to accompany it at each round. These include the Renault Clio Cup, Ginetta GT Supercup, Ginetta Junior Championship, British Formula Ford championship and Porsche Carrera Cup GB.

For the third year the Championship will be conforming to the Next Generation Touring Car (NGTC) Specification. Teams will either compete with NGTC or S2000 specifications. The NGTC Cars will have a huge performance advantage due to increased turbo boost pressures on the 2.0 Litre turbocharged engines. As a result, the 2013 Season sees the introduction of a new Jack Sears trophy for teams with S2000 2.0 Litre naturally aspirated engines.

The British Touring Car Championship starts at Brands Hatch on March 30-31st and GTspirt will be covering the 2013 season. The race dates for each round are:

Round 1 Brands Hatch 31st March 2013
Round 2 Donington Park 21st April 2013
Round 3 Thruxton 5th May 2013
Round 4 Oulton Park 9th June 2013

The teams and driver line up for the 2013 season are yet to be released and confirmed. Donington Park will host the BTCC Media day on 21st March 2013 where a full list of competitors will be fully revealed and all cars competing will be on show.
