A special 1978 Ferrari 308 GTB Group B rally car is set to go under the hammer courtesy of RM Auctions this coming February. When it does, it is speculated to sell for between 250,000 and 315,000 euros.
This particular Ferrari 308 GTB left the Italian factory like most 308’s but was then extensively converted into Group B specification. It was soon then raced by Spanish rally driver Antonio Zanini who walked away with victory in the 1980 European Rally Championship as well as being crowned Spanish Rally Champion on nine separate occasions.
Beneath the body of this rally-prepped Ferrari 308 GTB is a 3.0-litre V8 engine featuring 16-valves and complete with carburettors from Weber. Mated to this engine is a five-speed manual transmission. As part of the Group B rally conversion, the car was also outfitted with new AP Lockheed high-performance brakes complete with vented discs.
